Create XWORDZ
Have you had a crack at some of the XWORDZ on this site and thought that you could do better? Do you have an original idea for an XWORD that is so ingenious, no other animal on earth (except maybe pigs) would be able to solve it?

If the answer to the above questions was "yes" then you've surfed to the right place because this is the page where all your XWORD creating fantasy's are realised.

Hold onto your pants, this could get exciting
That's right friends, in just 3 very simple to follow steps, XWORDZ Creator will produce your very own XWORD which you can save and then send to all your spotty friends.

TIP: Do a couple of small test XWORDZ to start with just to make sure you can successfully create and save them.
TIP: Plan your XWORDZ on paper beforehand. Unless you are an extremely wordy wizard, it is very difficult to create XWORDZ on the fly.
TIP: Study other people's XWORDZ to get a feel of what to do.
TIP: Don't eat mud, it's not very good for you and makes your teeth go brown.

General knowledge Vs themed
The easiest type of XWORD you can create would be general knowledge, simply because 'any old words' can be used to populate the grid.

However, in terms of entertainment, themed XWORDZ are by far the best, especially if your audience has some personal fascination with the subject matter. For example: Trekkie fans would enjoy a Star Trek themed XWORD much more than a general knowledge one.

Unfortunately, themed XWORDZ are much more difficult to create, BUT there is a greater feeling of satisfaction once you get it right.

Here are some astonishingly good ideas for themed XWORDZ:-

Cartoon characters
Film stars
Plants
TV
The 70's
Pop stars
Monsters
Christmas
Star Wars
Science

TV soaps
Cars
The 60's
James Bond
Food
Harry Potter
Music
Kids TV
The Simpsons
Villains
Films
Geography
Computer games
Halloween
Heroes
Politics
Elvis
Star Trek
TV sitcoms
The 80's

Grid symmetry
Although not as important as the actual content of an XWORD, presentation does go a long way in persuading your audience that you have put some effort into creating it.

This is where grid symmetry plays a part. XWORDZ that have a symmetrical grid (i.e. the tracks would line up if the grid were flipped or rotated about an axis), are so much more appealing to look at when compared to those that do not.

Creating general knowledge XWORDZ with grid symmetry is fairly tricky. Creating themed XWORDZ with grid symmetry is damn near impossible, especially if you're as poo at it as me.

To help you out, I have produced an Excel workbook that contains a whole load of symmetrical grid samples (ranging from 5x5 to 16x16) which can be used as templates for the XWORDZ you create. This workbook is available as a single file or comes bundled with the XWORDZ Creator Pack, both of which can be obtained via our downloadz section.
